Pros of buying a 1966 Chevrolet Impala 396/427 NOS (New Old Stock) air conditioning unit:1. Authenticity: Since it's a New Old Stock unit, it's an original, unopened part from the manufacturer, meaning it has not been used or installed before. This can be appealing to collectors and classic car enthusiasts who value originality.
2. Quality: NOS parts are often considered to be of higher quality than used or rebuilt parts, as they have not been exposed to wear and tear or potential damage.
3. Availability: Since this part is new, it should be easier to find and purchase than a used or rebuilt part, which may be difficult to locate.
4. Compatibility: Since it's a factory-original part, it should be a direct fit for the 1966 Chevrolet Impala, reducing the need for any modifications or adaptations.
Cons of buying a 1966 Chevrolet Impala 396/427 NOS air conditioning unit:1. Cost: New Old Stock parts can be more expensive than used or rebuilt parts, due to their rarity and the fact that they have been stored for a long time.
2. Lack of Immediate Use: Since the part is new and unopened, it cannot be used right away. If the air conditioning in the car is currently not functioning, this could be a disadvantage.
3. Storage: If the part is not installed immediately, it will need to be stored properly to maintain its quality. This could require additional space and resources.
Conclusion:The 1966 Chevrolet Impala 396/427 NOS air conditioning unit is a high-quality part that will provide an authentic and original solution for classic car enthusiasts. While it may be more expensive than used or rebuilt parts, its compatibility and quality make it an attractive option for those looking for a direct fit and long-lasting solution. However, potential buyers should consider the cost and the need for immediate use before making a decision.
Recommendation:If you value originality and quality, and have the resources and storage space, the 1966 Chevrolet Impala 396/427 NOS air conditioning unit is a great choice. It will provide a reliable solution for your classic car and add to its overall value. However, if cost is a concern or you need the air conditioning up and running immediately, a used or rebuilt part may be a more practical option.
