Installation tip: your car may already have the necessary connector built into wiring harness but if it doesn't, simply run a single lead from underside of dash tapped door light switch - green w yellow stripe to trunk area. Look for it closely on yours, its there. This is not an aftermarket item but the original fomoco part that came from factory when trunk luggage compartment light was specified. This is a fomoco original factory trunk light for all 1971, 1972 and 1973 Ford Mustang model's including mach 1 grandee as well any mercury Cougar XR-7. It came off a 1971 Ford Mustang but will fit other model years of the era with similar body styles such as tiring fair lane galaxies comet cyclone Thunderbird and many others.

The unit includes a new bulb. It has an internal mercury switch that closes the circuit when deck lid is opened thereby lighting light. It fits into the rectangular opening with little pilot screw hole drilled next to that is pre punched on underside of all Ford, mercury Lincoln product deck lids from mid sixties up. The unit grounds to deck lid.

The unit is bench tested to be in excellent working condition. The small plastic wire retainer is still attached. The wire is still flexible and it has external insulation where exits deck lid. The unit is completely self contained.

A correct original option is hard to find.
